School delivers winter help from the heart

ST Mary’s Primary School students are doing their part to help support Swan Hill residents this winter, rugging up and donating to the Vinnies Winter Appeal.

Dressed in pyjamas and winter woollies, students donated food instead of a gold coin as part of the appeal.

Organised by SRC representatives, the school collected an amazing 1832 items, or 159 bags of non-perishable foods, to donate to the Swan Hill community, with a prize also awarded to the class that collected the most items.

St Mary’s SRC organiser and representative Prue O’Sullivan was amazed to see how much food was donated by students and families.

“We thought we would so it for the people who don’t really have much food around Swan Hill,” Ms O’Sullivan said.

The school participates in the winter appeal every June as part of its Catholic school mission.

The items will be donated to the local St Vincent de Paul Society branch over the school holidays.
