Swan Hill Specialist School art earns awards

SOME talented students from Swan Hill Specialist School received awards for their arts and crafts submitted at the Swan Hill Show.

Every student at the Specialist School is scheduled to attend a 45 minute visual art lesson each week.

During this session they learn different art techniques such as painting with water-colour and acrylic paints, drawing skills and sculpture using paper mache, clay or other materials.

“Our students have been working towards their show entries all year during art classes,” teacher Bridget Caruso said.

“Some of the simpler entries were finished in one art class, while other more complex artworks needed our students to work hard on completing them over a few weeks.”

The school ended up submitting over 160 entries in the art sections of the show, winning 21 sections and having another 33 students receiving second or third places or highly commended awards.
