All in the family at Beverford District Primary School

IT was a sea of colour at Beverford District Primary School last Friday as family members joined the students at the school’s grandparents’ and friends’ day.

The students celebrated by making terracotta pot plants with their grandparents to take home.

Principal Phillip Cox said it was fantastic to have the school community back attending events after two years of the pandemic.

“Post COVID, it’s just great to have the parents and grandparents on our school grounds to see what we’re doing,” he said.

“Our school community support all of our celebration days, and it was an excellent attendance on Friday.

“Days like these just reinforce to the kids the value of education by showing how much their families care.”

The day coupled as a grand opening of the school’s new playground, for which ribbon-cutting ceremony was held.

“The playground finished construction in September, and it has been completely redesigned thanks to the $220,000 grant we received for it,” Mr Cox said.

“We thought it would be a nice idea to honour one of our former school captains, Jordan Davis, who passed away a couple of years ago, by installing a plaque next to the playground.

“Jordan’s family has been involved with the school a long time, and we thought this was a fitting tribute to acknowledge his contribution to our school and ensure we remember him.”

Eight preps are signed up for next year, which Mr Cox described as “very pleasing”.
