Proud efforts

Brea Terris – Principal

Swan Hill North Primary School

THIS year has been a fantastic year at Swan Hill North Primary School.

Our students should be so proud of their efforts and the growth they have achieved in their learning.

This year has continued to bring challenges as we moved out of remote and flexible learning, but students have continued their learning without missing a beat.

We have welcomed many new students to North this year and this is continuing into 2023.

We are excited to be increasing our classroom structure to 10 classrooms next year.

We also welcomed some new teachers and said farewell to a couple of staff members who had been at North for a long time.

These staff moved on to new adventures in different schools and we thanked them for their service and dedication to the students at SHNPS.

At the start of 2022, we probably weren’t expecting the impacts of COVID to be so prevalent. Then flooding began to impact surrounding areas, but the school community kept going with only a few modifications needing to be made.

Our camping program got up and running again, being a major highlight of the year for students. The students in Grades 3-4 travelled to Halls Gap. While the Grade 5-6 students visited Sovereign Hill.

This year we received funding for improving our students’ mental health.

We investigated a range of options and purchased a wellbeing dog.

North is now a member of our school community and has fitted in so well.

He has such a positive impact on our community. Thank you to Miss Kelly for being his carer and ensuring he has been introduced to the school in the correct way to ensure North and our students interact with each other safely.

Next year is looking so bright for our school. We will have a new kindergarten service on site. This will be delivered over the school holidays.

I am excited to be working with Shine Bright on this partnership.

We have a dedicated teaching staff excited to meet their classes and begin working with them.

The students of SHNPS are a credit to the school and make North the amazing learning environment it is.

Good luck to our Grade 6 students who graduate at the end of the year and are moving onto Year 7. We know you will do fabulous things in your next chapter of schooling.

Enrolments are still being taken for 2023. Please don’t hesitate to contact the school if you would like a tour.

We wish all our community a merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday.
