Concert ends ‘wonderful’ year

IT has been a wonderful 2022 at Beverford District Primary School, which concluded with an outstanding end-of-year concert on Tuesday evening.

The concert was attended by a huge crowd who were entertained by the talented students.

Highlights of the concert included the showcasing of the introduction of Auslan (Australian Sign Language) to the school curriculum in 2022.

This has been very well received and popular with students, staff and families. Students performed two songs in Auslan and the crowd was in awe of the students’ ability to learn sign ­language so thoroughly throughout the year.

Another highlight was the dances and skits learnt in the performing arts program at the school.

We are a very proud school community at Beverford and again ­received incredibly positive parent and student opinion survey results.

The school has again aimed to foster close working relationships with families to ensure there is a strong partnership between home and school.

We know that the positive word of mouth from our existing families is leading to a growth in enrolments.

Our seven Prep students this year thrived in the small personalised setting and we are very excited for the same outcome for the eight new Prep students next year. Students are supported by our school values of respect, resilience and responsibility, ensuring they thrive in our unique rural setting.

A strength of the school is the ­talented and dedicated staff.

Coming to work at BDPS is a pleasure with the positive culture and environment created by these caring educators.

A huge thanks to our 2022 team that will remain the same next year – Kristy Summerhayes (Grade 5/6), Chloe Wren (Grade P/1), Demi Salau (Grade 2-4), Danielle Pretty (tutoring), Kaiti Blackmore (wellbeing), Lois Caeli (business manager) and Tamika Elford (teacher’s aide).

Next Tuesday will be a bittersweet day for our Grade 6 students, Ella, Tai, Darcy, Tayla, Aidan, Breanah and Malika.

They are excited about heading off to Swan Hill College in 2023, but know they will miss BDPS and can look back with great memories of their primary school years.

We wish our Grade 6 graduates all the best and encourage them to drop in and visit us in the years to come.

Finally, on behalf of the students and staff at the school I would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.
