School’s $8.9m facelift

IT is a very exciting time at Swan Hill North, with the primary school preparing to make plans on how to spend $8.9 million allocated in the state budget to upgrade their facilities.

Principal Brea Terris told The Guardian that she will be consulting with staff, students and the wider community over the next couple of weeks on exactly what the redevelopment will look like.

“We have to complete a plan where we look at the educational directions of the school, what our educational delivery looks like, what are our opportunities and what we would like our learning areas to look like, and that is probably about a five-week process,” she said.

“Once we have done that plan, then we will have more of an idea around what we can spend the money on to do some modernisation.”

Ms Terris believes the funding is an amazing opportunity for the school.

“We feel like we at Swan Hill North lead the way with what we are doing in terms of our teaching and learning – we have got really fantastic staff at the school and we’ve got amazing students,” she said.

“So to be able to have a chance to modernise our spaces and undertake the works that we need to make sure it’s the best space for learning for kids is really exciting.”
