Exams over for students

YEAR 12 students across Swan Hill have described feeling relieved, sad and scared as their exams, and secondary schooling, comes to an end.

St Mary MacKillop College student Farirai Muyambo told The Guardian it was a “weird” feeling knowing her school days were finally behind her.

“It feels kind of sad, because it was a long six years, and I was in this routine of getting up, wearing the same clothes, going to school,” she said.

“It’s just weird now that I’m leaving.”

Farirai said it was tough managing the stress of her exams, but was grateful to have a lot of support around her.

“It gets to a point where you kind of just give up and think I can’t do this anymore,” she said.

“But I had someone reminding me constantly that you have to keep going, you’re almost there.

“The best thing about it was having really attentive teachers who knew where you struggled and helped you where you struggled – you didn’t even have to go and ask, they would just come to you.”

Swan Hill College students Rhys Neill, Brodie Van Heumen, William Eastwood and Asiri Chapman all shared similar feelings as Farirai, describing a big sense of relief that this chapter was closed, but they were a bit scared about what the next one would hold.

The VCE exam period officially finishes on Wednesday, November 24. VCE results are to be released on Monday, December 11.
