STUDENTS and staff at St Mary’s Primary School feel very proud to enjoy a beautiful school setting with gardens and expansive open spaces.
Principal Kate Quin said the school offered amazing facilities that enriched the learning opportunities of all students.
“We really are very fortunate to have large football ovals, soccer and cricket pitches, and both indoor and outdoor netball courts,” she said.
“We have a state-of-the-art gymnasium and contemporary learning spaces that are designed for flexibility.
“Having our own preschool on site allows for a smooth and seamless transition for our foundation students as they graduate from kindergarten, and we offer after-school and vacation care programs.
“Our gardens are a lovely and tranquil space to spend time in, and staff will often take classes outdoors for learning activities.
“Mac is our wellbeing dog and everyone enjoys spending time with him, and we also have wonderful playground facilities, so we do feel very lucky.”
The school offers weekly specialised classes such as music, art, science and technology, PE and Italian language classes.
Mrs Quin said the peace and tranquillity of the landscaped gardens is something the school endeavoured to replicate in the classrooms as well.
“We are very proud of our students’ academic achievements, and encourage resilience and student leadership,” she said.
“We offer a comprehensive wellbeing program with personalised learning programs delivered at point of need.
“Our Prep students have settled in wonderfully this year, and I think that is because many participated in Flying Start, our comprehensive preschool-to-school transition program which allows the children to feel safe and secure in the environment before they even begin foundation.
“I am often complimented on our caring and committed staff by parents who comment on the strong relationships and commitment we show to the children.
“It really is a key strength of the school.”
Open days are Sunday, April 21 and Sunday, May 26 with tours at 10am and 11am each day.
