Achieving excellence at Swan Hill College

PROUDLY supporting around 750 students across its two campuses, Swan Hill College aims to ensure every student leaves feeling confident, capable, and ready to embark on their future pathway.

As a Positive Behaviour school, core values Belonging, High Expectations, Respect and Responsibility guide everything, ensuring “all students are supported in their journey to Achieve Excellence Together”.

The school supports students of all backgrounds and abilities, providing them with an opportunity to engage in meaningful learning.

Their Pye Street campus is home to the junior and senior school, while the FLO campus provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment, with smaller class sizes which foster strong relationships between students and staff.

Wellbeing is at the heart of Swan Hill College, and students are encouraged to grow and succeed in their chosen pathways.

Principal De Rosewarne said wellbeing was “the foundation for learning”, and the school took great pride in supporting students to grow and achieve.

A dedicated wellbeing team plays a central role in student success, and includes a mental health practitioner, two counsellors, chaplain, school nurse, health practitioner, Koorie Engagement Support Officer, and Mali and Arlo, the school’s wellbeing dogs.

Ms Rosewarne said the team worked together to support the mental, emotional and physical health of all students, across both campuses.

“By fostering a holistic and inclusive environment, we ensure all students feel safe, supported, and connected – both at school and in the wider community,” Ms Rosewarne said.

The junior school provides a strong foundation, starting with a structured transition program.

“Exposure to a variety of academic subjects and sports allow students to discover their strengths and grow in confidence,” Ms Rosewarne said, noting extracurricular activities including chess club, gym workouts and debating, encouraged students to explore interests beyond the classroom.

Ms Rosewarne said the senior school team took great pride in guiding students through their final years of secondary education, ensuring each student had a clear post-school pathway.

The school offers a wide range of VET, VCE and VM subjects, taught by experienced educators.

“Whether their next step is university, TAFE, an apprenticeship, or employment, our dedicated careers team provides personalised support to help them succeed,” Ms Rosewarne said.

The college also offers flexible learning options, providing hands-on learning for practical, skill-based education, across a range of subjects, including Community Services, Building and Construction and Cookery.

Community involvement is a key focus of the FLO campus, with students participating in Meals on Wheels and running their own coffee shop which is open to the community.

“At its core, FLO is about inclusivity and flexibility, helping every student find their path,” Ms Rosewarne said.

“Through a combination of academic programs, wellbeing initiatives, and strong community links, FLO ensures students leave confident in who they are and where they belong.”
