Supporting students’ success

St Mary’s Swan Hill believes every student is a success story waiting to be told.

With their dedicated staff, innovative programs, and strong community spirit, St Mary’s provides a learning environment where students grow and thrive.

“Our motto – Every child matters every day – is at the heart of all our decisions and actions,” principal Kate Quin said.

She said St Mary’s was a close-knit community where teachers, staff and families joined together to nurture and support each child’s unique journey, ensuring their growth, happiness and success.

“St Mary’s is a community where every teacher, staff member, and family works together to support your child’s journey,” Mrs Quin said.

“At St Mary’s we believe in the power of strong family partnerships.”

Strong partnerships with the school’s on-site kindergarten, Shamrock Park, and the Little Emus playgroup ensures a seamless transition into the school community.

The school’s commitment to academic excellence has been nationally recognised, with outstanding results acknowledging St Mary’s as one of the leading schools in the state.

“We consistently achieve the highest academic results in national testing across all schools in Swan Hill,” Mrs Quin said.

“Our explicit teaching approaches in literacy and numeracy, combined with a rich and differentiated curriculum, ensure every child is challenged and empowered to reach their full potential.”

With support from the school’s wellbeing team and bilingual assistance, St Mary’s cater to the diverse learning needs of all students.

Students enjoy an engaging and varied curriculum—from creating sculptures in art to coding, conducting experiments in science, and exploring robotics as part of the school’s engaging STEM program.

“St Mary’s provides children with opportunities to develop their interests and talents in a nurturing environment,” Mrs Quin said.

These sentiments were echoed by the school’s wellbeing leader Kyle Doran, who said wellbeing was central to life at St Mary’s.

“We understand that children learn best when they feel safe, happy, and supported,” he said.

“That’s why we’ve built a comprehensive framework that supports every student’s emotional, social, and mental health wellbeing.”

The school’s dedicated Wellbeing Team works closely with families, staff, and students, and with the help of wellbeing dog, Mac, foster an environment of optimism, connection, and care.

St Mary’s boasts state-of-the-art facilities, set in park-like surroundings, which inspire learning and play.

Offering a variety of clubs, including Lego, dance and colouring, there’s something for everyone to enjoy during recess and lunch breaks.

The school’s new ninja playground has also become a welcomed new addition to the school grounds.

Enrolments are now open for 2026 and all prospective families are invited to the school’s open day next month.

St Mary’s is the only school in Swan Hill to offer on-site before and after-school care and a fun, engaging school holiday program.

The open day will provide an ideal opportunity for families to familiarise themselves with the school and start planning for their own success story.
