School strengthens community connection

TOOLEYBUC Central School is continuing their collaborative spirit into 2025, welcoming parents to the school for afternoon tea and electing the student representative council.

Principal, Melanie Wait, said the welcome afternoon tea was well attended, strengthening the community connection with parents.

“We’re focused on building a strong relationship between home and school, because that’s important for students’ success,” she said.

“There was a good number of parents who came and had the opportunity to chat with teachers and see the school.

“The parents were really happy to chat with each other and some of our secondary students did really well making the tea and coffee.

“It showed what a lovely family-type community that we have here at the school.”

The term one schedule will give more opportunities for parents to attend and participate in the school community.

“We have the primary and whole school assemblies coming up, as well as the athletics and cross country carnivals and Easter parade,” Ms Wait said.

“There are lots of opportunities for parents to come in, have a look at how things are going in our school and be part of our community.”

The school body has elected their SRC representatives and executives and they are planning a Harmony Day event.

The council is led by president Hannah Rogers, vice-president Ally Grace, and secretary Claudia Blair.

“We have always had a strong focus on the student voice, and this year we’re working to collaborate with the SRC so the student voice is heard and meeting the needs of our students,” Ms Wait said.

“The SRC have planned the orange casual dress day for Harmony Day which will also include a whole school activity.”
