Bodinnar family’s history in print

The Bodinnar family’s business history has been put in print by Balranald local Ken Spinks.

“It is a history that shouldn’t be lost to the district,” Mr Spinks said.

A Business With No Rival is all about the Bodinnar family, who have been prominent local hardware business owners for almost a century.

“I have had great pleasure in writing this story about two brothers, Les and Steve Bodinnar, who initiated a retail business and devoted many years of valuable service to the townships of Balranald and district, Nyah and Sea Lake, a period of 97 years of business being conducted by family members, second, third and fourth generations,” Mr Spinks wrote in the book.

Mr Spinks said he already knew a lot about the Bodinnar’s Balranald business, but was interested to learn more about the history of the business in Nyah Nyah West.

“Errol Bradbury and myself went over there and we talked with Norm Bodinnar, whose photograph is in the booklet, and he told us the whole history of it,” Mr Spinks said.

“I have put it together and I found it extremely interesting. I think other people would find it interesting too.”

If you are looking to get your hands on a copy of A Business With No Rival, there will be a book launch on September 3 at the Balranald Art Gallery at 2pm.

“It’s not a big publication, but I think it is very important for the district,” Mr Spinks said.
