THE Swan Hill Council and a host of local community groups have all your school holiday needs covered, with a wide range of fun and engaging activities and events for the kids to enjoy.
Join Bella from Bunnings at the Swan Hill regional library on Thursday, January 19 for a simple, fun and creative hour of entertainment.
The kids can create their own unique library bag using an array of coloured markers, fabric paint and of course their imagination. Bella will not only facilitate the sessions but make it one for the kids not to forget.
The library is also playing host to a wonderful Twilight Tales session, filled with beautiful Australian stories in honour of Australia Day. At 7pm on Wednesday, January 25, staff will take children for a stroll through the Australian bush to see what animals we can find. There will be stories, songs and rhymes, followed by a craft activity as we sit around in PJs eating pizza.
On Tuesday, January 17, from 10-11am, take a trip down to the Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery for a session in Chinese art.
Children will have the opportunity to explore shapes, lines and repetition to create Chinese art patterns. Patterns will be drawn on a paper lantern before adding colour to the negative space of the lantern with tissue paper. The children will then construct their lanterns into a 3D form. The program, which is aimed at primary school-aged children is a wonderful way to encourage individual creativity.
For a hit of tech fun, our library is hosting a fun tech session with the Sphero SPRK+. Children will have the opportunity to navigate a maze using simple code to make the Sphero talk, move and change colours. iPads are supplied so children need only bring along their imagination.
