Reunion for the ages

BANDS and musicians from the Swan Hill region will gather tomorrow at the Swan Hill Club to celebrate a venue that launched many of their careers.

Event organiser Sue Turner told The Guardian that what began as a private get-together of old friends has morphed into a night that will span the decades.

“It started out innocently with me putting some photos of my husband’s band on Facebook, and a couple of musician friends who had moved away ignited a bit of interest and suggested, why don’t we have a musos’ reunion,” she said.

“It’s been in the pipeline for a long time – this is our fourth attempt due to COVID, and the floods, so were very excited to finally get it done.

“There’s a lot of ex Swan Hill musicians coming in from out of town, including bands that were playing here as far back as the 1960s along with a few of the newer generation.”

“We’ve got no idea how many will be coming, but there’s been a lot of interest, and from all the messages I’ve been receiving, it’s going to be a lot of people.”

Bands will play a set before changing over, and there will be an open mic section for solo artists.

The reunion starts at 4pm and runs through until midnight.
