Vintage year for Swan Hill Food and Wine Festival

MORE than 2000 people and 40 stallholders came out for the biggest Swan Hill Food and Wine Festival at the weekend.

Swan Hill Inc marketing co-ordinator Tameeka Hankin told The Guardian that this year’s festival was a “record-breaking success”.

“Everyone who came said that they just really enjoyed it and they were so thankful for it being put on and being the success that it was,” she said.

“It was great to see the town packed – the caravans were packed, were streets were busy over the weekend and all the shops.

“So it was great to be able to put on this event and not just benefit the stallholders, that were in attendance, but the whole town.”

While having a wide selection of food and wine to choose from throughout the day, the crowd was entertained by a number of talented musical acts. Local artists Ivy Black, Sophie Kelly, Malcolm Scougall and the Drowning Sorrows were a hit, while Sam + Sam and headliners Rogue Traders really got the crowd on their feet.

“Natalie Bassingthwaighte was amazing – she absolutely rocked it and played the crowd and everyone just had a great time,” Ms Hankin said.

Ms Hankin thanked everyone involved in making the festival come together, especially the festival committee.

“A lot of people don’t understand how much work goes into it,” she said.

“The committee is made up of volunteers and we all have full-time jobs, so to be able to put something on to this extent, it is really a lot of hard work that needs to be put in.”
