Heart and music

MUSIC lovers will be entertained up close on Sunday, when the Swan Hill Memorial Hall hosts two of Australia’s brightest musical theatre stars.

Internationally acclaimed Natalie O’Donnell and Simon Gleeson will perform classic songs together in the more intimate setting of the Memorial Hall, with limited ticket numbers.

“We absolutely love a more intimate performance, in fact most performers do,” Gleeson said.

“It’s nice playing big stages and I’ve done that a lot, but with a show like this it really is an intimate show and it really works in the smaller intimate environment.

“We are really, really looking forward to it.

“It’s meant to be shared and feel very personal.”

Gleeson spent many happy times in Swan Hill during his childhood and is looking forward to seeing the place once again.

“I used to have family that lived there but I haven’t been there since I was a kid, so just get back up and see the place will be fantastic,” he said.

“For me it’s just about getting back to that part of the country that I absolutely love.”

Not just sharing the stage and music, the performers also share their life and two children.

They will be accompanied on piano by Kim Dillion, whom Gleeson said was absolutely extraordinary.

“It’s a treat just to watch her, every time we play people are just astonished by her ability,” he said.

The two-hour show will start at 2pm on Sunday and brings an afternoon of song and storytelling, celebrating the music that has shaped the careers of the two artists over the past 25 years.

They will be performing greats such as Fly Me to the Moon, Bring Him Home, I Honestly Love You and Unchained Melody.
