AFTER an extremely successful inaugural event last year, the Go North Arts Festival will again fill Swan Hill with vibrant creativity in 2023.
The all-ages festival is set to take place over the weekend of September 1-3.
Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery director Ian Tully told The Guardian locals could expect some pretty exciting activities, including the opportunity to work with a range of different mediums.
“It’s very much about participation, and we think that is a point of difference between this and a lot of other festivals,” Mr Tully said.
“We want to continue to provide people with that opportunity to really enjoy, get involved and have a go at making art.”
The festival is set to kick off with a performance by Melbourne-based singer songwriter Delsinki on the Friday night at the Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery.
His performance of iconic 80s covers, called Straight to the Pool Room, will go alongside the Australian rules football-inspired Beyond the Boundary and Home Ground gallery exhibitions that will be on display.
The main event takes place on the banks of the Murray River at Riverside Park on the Saturday.
Live music will be performed by Benny Walker, The Maes, Simon Marks and Elise Drake.
There are also plenty of activities to have a go at, including clay and wheel throwing, ukulele tuition, drumming, spray painting and still life drawing.
“There are a lot of different activities to get involved in and look at,” Mr Tully said.
“You don’t have to get involved, you can actually just watch people work which is always fascinating, look at the artworks on display, and of course enjoy the music.”
Bookending the weekend on Sunday afternoon, internationally renowned singer songwriter Nick Barker will be performing an intimate concert at Mully’s Place at the Swan Hill Town Hall.
