Star duo’s night of hits

MUSICAL theatre legends Natalie O’Donnell and Simon Gleeson performed together in the intimate surrounds of the Swan Hill Memorial Hall last Sunday.

Accompanied by Kym Dillon on piano, the husband and wife duo’s Heart and Music show included classic songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein through to The Greatest Showman, with some Billy Joel thrown in for good measure.

O’Donnell said that Swan Hill was beautiful and the husband and wife duo enjoyed performing here.

“The space here at the memorial Hall is so gorgeous and so intimate. It has been so nice to bring the show here and share it with the audience.

Gleeson said that they loved a more intimate performance and that most performers do.

“It’s nice playing big stages and I’ve done that a lot but with a show like this, it really is an intimate show and it really works in the smaller intimate environment,” Gleeson said.

“I used to have family that lived here but I haven’t been here since I was a kid, so to just get back up and see the place has been great.

“For me it’s just about getting back to that part of the country that I absolutely love.”

“It’s been a long time since boiling hot summers visiting family here. Actually it is pleasant to be here and not melt on the pavement,” he said.

The couple, who met at drama school, have two children who they say are their greatest supporters and harshest critics.
