Tribute to piano men

TWO of Australia’s premier tribute artists will recreate the well-known Face to Face tour, which Elton John and Billy Joel brought to Australia, in a special 25-year anniversary production.

Greg Andrew and Anthony Mara celebrate the rocketman and the piano man in Elton and Billy, a special concert experience at the Swan Hill Town Hall.

The show will feature some of the greatest hits of both artists and include Benny and The Jets, Philadelphia Freedom, Rocketman, I’m Still Standing, Just The Way You Are, My Life, Uptown Girl, Tell Her About It, Piano Man and many more.

Greg Andrew recreates blindingly accurate and faithful performances of Elton’s greatest hits, combined with his effortless melodic skills and his reputation as a virtuosic pianist, Greg’s uncanny likeness to the Rocketman himself has transformed him in to becoming one of the single most recognised Elton John performers in the world.

In 2017, Greg was hand-picked with a personal invitation as the only global Elton John tribute, to perform on the world’s biggest tribute music festival stage in the UK, TRIBFEST.

Anthony Mara takes on the persona of Billy Joel and says he’s loved the piano man’s music since childhood.

“I was in a cover band for about 25 years and over that journey I played keyboard and sang, I always received countless comments that I look like Billy Joel,” Mr Mara said.

“As I got older, it played on my mind and I thought it would be good to do a tribute show to Billy.

“Then the opportunity came up where a particular venue needed an act and asked if I had any ideas and Billy Joel came straight to mind. That was about eight years ago.”

The combination of the two artists into the show that is now causing a sensation across the country was born in 2019 when the two were introduced.

“We did our first show in March 2020.

“There was a six month build up to the show, we performed and then on Monday the world shut down with Covid,” he continued with a laugh.

The show is on Saturday, August 26 from 8pm.
