Tuning in to Robertson Brothers

It wasn’t the usual show that you see at the Swan Hill Town Hall but the audience was enthralled, laughing and applauding throughout.

Based on the format of a 1960s variety show the Robertson Brothers used a combination of technology and quick witted humour to bring back many memories to “those in the viewers”, as the boys referred to them.

Guest appearances from the likes of Alfred Hitchcock, Liberace and even Mr Ed were bought to life with the magic of technology.

The three brothers Geoff, Ben and Stuart were joined by two other talented singers, Dean Bourne and Simon Brooke McLachlan as they bought the music from the 60s to the hall.

Ben Robertson said that they love coming to Swan Hill and although the show has the same name each year the content is completely different.

“The crowd really gets into the spirit of the show,” Ben said.

“It’s really different and that is how we sell it.

“We are not just a band rocking up and singing some covers, it is set up like the set of a full blown live television variety show.

Brother Geoff said that the humour in the show changes on a nightly basis.

“Because we are brothers the script changes every night and jokes are born out of thin air and when something works really well we think, great we’ll keep that one,” he said.

“We are really looking forward to coming back to Swan Hill with a new version of the show next year.”
