Mik Maks happy to be back

WELL-known children’s group The Mik Maks are returning to Swan Hill for some school-holiday entertainment, performing for the third time at the Town Hall next week.

The family band of brothers Joel and Al, former teachers that grew up in the farming districts of western Victoria, Joel’s daughter Ava, 15, and a drum playing panda.

Performing live shows across Australia for more than a decade, the McInnes family has reached a global audience through their online music videos.

Their YouTube channel has more than six million subscribers and they are approaching six billion streams.

Joel McInnes said they were now busy creating content for a global audience and making sure it was language appropriate, as much of the audience has English as a second language.

“It’s great having a worldwide audience, it’s a huge honour, but it also comes with tremendous responsibility that we are delivering quality content that is engaging, colourful and educational that can also be understood and comprehended by a global audience,” Mr McInnes said.

“The show we will be bringing to Swan Hill is called Songs to Help Us Grow and it was written during COVID, so there are a lot of messages sprinkled through the show and the songs focusing on resilience, family values and working together.

“Inner development and being aware of who we are and who is around us, and just trying to be the best people that we can, play a big part of the show as well.

“Audiences can expect 45 minutes of giggles, jiggles and wiggles.

“Much of our music has a country and farming theme running through it hailing back to our country upbringing.

“Although we do a lot of major events in Melbourne, but we really love getting bush and going out to smaller communities and getting back to roots.

“We love performing far wide and remotely and we love coming to Swan Hill.”

The Town Hall show is on Wednesday next week.
