Frozen Junior coming to Swan Hill.

SWAN Hill Theatre Group is preparing for its latest production, Frozen Junior, performed by 28 local children aged between 10 and 16 years that will appear on stage when the production opens in late October.

Producer of the play, Toni-Nia Scalora, is passionate about theatre and the 20-year-old primary school teacher student loves to encourage other young people to get involved.

The on-stage ensemble will be joined by seven back-stage youth aged between 16 and 20 years old.

There is also a dedicated group of parents working on costumes to bring the show to life.

Ms Scalora said rehearsals started just before June and the kids had been really excited.

“We like to put a junior show on once a year so that we can get kids from the local area involved in theatre and gets them excited for when they are older and they want to come and perform in the adult shows later,” Ms Scalora said.

“It’s all about them learning theatre skills as there aren’t a lot of other opportunities to do that in Swan Hill.

“They have a lot of fun being up on stage.”

With a long background in theatre locally Ms Scalora is on the board of directors of Swan Hill Theatre Group.

Her passion for the theatre has been fostered both at Swan Hill Theatre Group and by her time as a student at Mary McKillop College during her school years.

“I love being on stage — it is the funnest thing that I enjoy the most,” she said.

“I lso think it is important to get the kids passionate about it as well.”
