Bjorn Again, again

BJORN Again, the highly acclaimed ABBA tribute band that originated in Melbourne, is on its way back to Swan Hill.

The world-renowned tribute band has played Swan Hill twice before and although the band has played venues such as Wembley Arena in London, as a stand-alone act, Swan Hill still holds a special place.

Band founder and group manager John said that Swan Hill was always a sentimental favorite, as his mother was “a Nyah West girl” and he was born in Swan Hill in 1932.

He had many fond memories of visiting his auntie’s pheasant farm as a child.

“We love going to the regional areas and if we can’t fly somewhere and we are doing a drive, I can feel the city stress dispersing from the band and crew,” Mr Tyrell said.

“You are driving through the gumtrees and the lakes and that sort of thing/

“It’s really good for the team, almost like therapy.

“There is a lot of warmth and a welcoming feeling in the regional areas.

“Even back stage, the crew and venue staff are really friendly, whereas in the city they can be a bit grumpy.”

Since forming in 1988 they have played more than 7000 concerts in more than 120 countries and become an international phenomenon.

They have grown to three groups, with one based in Australia, one in the United Kingdom and one in the United States.

Original ABBA band member Benny Andersson said in 2000, when questioned about a possible ABBA revival, that fans had better make the most of Bjorn Again because that was the closest they were going to get to seeing ABBA.
