Stories on the move

PARENTS and children listened to a story and got some exercise on Swan Hill Library’s Roving Storytime.

Last Wednesday, library staff and volunteers took families on a guided walk along the main street of Swan Hill.

Children were introduced to “places we go” as they interacted with local businesses, part of Children’s Week at the library.

Before leaving on the walk, Swan Hill Health Promotion staff read a story and talked about healthy eating in fruit and vegetable costumes.

Mallee Pet Supplies, the former Tristar medical clinic, the cenotaph, the post office and Westpac Bank were some of the places visited.

Songs such as Tiny Tim, Miss Polly Had a Dolly and The Grand Old Duke of York were sung along the way.

The group joined paediatric services provider Noah’s Ark at the Community Tree in town, conducting a colouring-in activity.

At the end there was an introduction to local emergency services, Victoria Police, CFA and Ambulance Victoria.
