Dance recital goes pro

FULL professional production will support performers from Richardson Dance Studio at their annual recital later this month.

Before the pandemic, it was single performance to a packed house at the iconic venue.

Now there are two shows, which gives the young performers additional experience of being on the stage with a live audience.

Richardson Dance Studio founder Raylene Richardson said the recital is all about giving the kids as close to a professional experience as possible.

“We don’t treat our recital as little concerts, we try to produce it quite professionally,” Ms Richardson said.

“It gives them a really good experience, which a lot of country kids just don’t get.

“We spend the money to make sure they are well prepared.

“There are smoke machines, lighting and especially made costumes that give them the opportunity to be a part of a full professional production.”

Co-owner of Richardson Dance Studio, Kaitlyn Blackmore, said the recital is a major production with numerous rehearsals at the Town Hall in the month leading up to the performances.

“We hire a lighting technician from Shepparton who has worked in venues such as the Sydney Opera House doing lighting,” Ms Blackmore said.

“We want the kids to have the best possible experience that they can have.

“Some of these kids have never set foot on a stage before or seen a musical. The kids absolutely love it.”

Students will perform in the latest production across two performances, at 12pm and 7pm, on November 18.

Tickets to the show are available at the Swan Hill Town Hall or at the door on the day.
