‘Best Busker’ Fawker in town

WELL-known musician Grim Fawker will be performing at the Swan Hill Club from 8pm on Friday night.

An independent artist, Grim has played hundreds of shows in various venues across multiple continents, self-released two singles, four ep’s, one live album, one comedy Christmas album (A Very Grim Christmas) and is recording his debut full length album For The Edification of Clementine.

Grim could be considered the epitome of the itinerate musician, drawing together tales and musings from his travels, and is as likely to deliver them in tender ballad form.

He has been voted “Melbourne’s Best Busker” by The Herald Sun and popular vote.

No stranger to Swan Hill, Fawkner has played in the town on numerous occasions, with his first performance here as the support act for Casey Chambers.

This will be his first gig at the Swan Hill Club, and he is looking forward to playing a new venue.

He describes his style as country, folk and pop.

“Sometimes you feel like being a bit country, sometimes you feel like being a bit folky and ballady but if I had to pick one genre I would say roots,” Fawkner said.

“I do get a lot of comparisons to John Butler and he is roots.

“As much as I might think one thing other people may think another,” he quips.

He has seen a few different trends in his 15 years as a performer including people migrating toward streaming services such as Spotify.

Since the end of the pandemic he has observed that there is now an upswing and return to live music.

“I do know that the staff and management at the Swan Hill club want to pump live music,” he added. “They are trying to get that live music social vibe going.”
