Family fun for all at gallery

SWAN Hill Regional Gallery is ready for its school holiday program, starting with a family fun day on Friday, January 5.

This is the second year that the gallery has run the free family-friendly event, which will start at 10am finish at 2pm.

Featuring still life drawing, playing with clay, art jigsaw puzzles, outdoor table tennis and much more, it is open to all ages and skill levels.

Gallery director Ian Tully said it had a strong focus on family and age did not matter as there was an activity that would appeal.

“It is very much about participation,” Mr Tully said.

“It doesn’t matter what age you are, you can get in and have a go.

“We will have ukulele playing, an opportunity to work with collage, drawing, traditional Aboriginal art and weaving.

“It is very much participating in making art.

“But you don’t have to get involved, you can just sit back and enjoy the moment.

“It is always nice and comfortable in the gallery.”

Well-known local First Nations artist Kenita Lee-McCartney will be one of those conducting workshops on the day.

Everyone was encouraged to head down to the gallery to join in.
