Food, wine and song come to Pioneer Settlement

LEGENDARY rock band Spiderbait will be the headline act for the return of the Swan Hill Food and Wine Festival to the Pioneer Village this year.

Last year more than 2200 people attended, a figure organisers expect to eclipse next month. However numbers are capped at 3000 to comply with liquor licensing regulations.

This year the festival will be held from March 8 till March 10, when the entire Pioneer Village will be open only to holders of festival tickets.

Entry will be at the gate adjacent to the paddlesteamer PS Gem.

Saturday, March 9 will be the big day in the settlement with entertainment starting from 11.30am featuring popular local acts and Spiderbait kicking off at 4.30pm.

Food and a variety of local produce will be available at stalls dotted throughout the site.

Swan Hill Inc marketing co-ordinator Remi Maher said the event had been going for about 10 years, each year getting bigger and better.

“It started off with just some small acts and as it has gained more success we have been able to more money into bigger bands, which is why we have a band like Spiderbait this year,” Ms Maher said.

“This is really great for the area this is a band that probably wouldn’t normally come to this area.

“It is a huge event and there is a cap of 3000 tickets, so if they sell out before the event there will be no tickets available on the day.

“There will be plenty of variety of alcohol available for everyone. It’s not just wine, there is gin and other types of drinks available.”

Cost is $50 and ticket information is available at www.swanhillfoodandwine.com.au
