Classic swing with modern pop in town

THE Tap Pack will be tapping their way to Swan Hill this September, bringing their energetic performances that mix the “old school cool” of classic swing music with modern pop and witty banter.

Creative director and cast member of The Tap Pack, Jordan Pollard said the show will have something for everyone.

“You can bring anyone from ages of eight to 80 plus,” Pollard said.

“There’s the classic swing songs from Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr, but there will also be songs from Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran and other modern artists so there will be a bit of everything for everyone.”

The all-Aussie and independent show features a talented and experienced cast of performers who have been touring around the world for the past ten years.

Pollard said he and the other creators of the show were inspired by the famous collective of singers that made up the “Rat Pack”.

“We’re all tap dancers, we love Gene Kelly and all the other tap dancing greats,” he said.

“And we also really enjoy the swing music of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr and Dean Martin.

“So we were all sitting in a pub ten years ago and we wrote some ideas down on a napkin of what the show could be, which is a fresh, new spin of swing music and tap dancing.

“We were really excited and before we knew it, we basically created a show out of nothing.”

Pollard said the show has had a revolving cast of performers which has allowed it to constantly evolve over the last ten years.

“We embrace what each individual brings to the show, and it also allows us to be spontaneous and different every night,” he said.

“No two shows are the same. The show is constantly evolving and we never get bored with it.”

Pollard said he hopes audiences will enjoy the show and have a fun night.

“We just want to have a great time with the audience,” he said.

“Regional places like Swan Hill are fantastic. They always appreciate the show because they don’t always have a lot of people coming through.”

The Tap Pack will be performing at the Town Hall on Wednesday September 4 at 7.30PM.
