Second week of holiday fun

SWAN Hill Regional Library has added to its jam-packed list of activities for the remainder of the school holidays.

The library has activities that are running almost daily throughout the next week so children won’t miss out.

Events set up for the duration of the school holidays include Creation Station, which runs Monday to Friday from 10am to 5.30pm, and Saturday 10am to noon.

Children will be able to create all day long, making anything they want to with the library’s recycled materials, coloured paper, wool and much more.

Footy posters will still be up in the library for children that want to take on the Footy Search and Find.

Children who can all of the footy posters will go into the draw to win a $50 gift card. The winner of the gift card will be announced on Monday October 7.

Minecraft Monday returns next week, allowing children to create, explore and survive in the versatile children’s video game.

Children can use their imagination and creativity to build anything from cities, to small huts as they survive from creatures that inhabit the virtual world.

For fun, interactive, educational activities, children can attend the Teddy Bear Hospital on Tuesday from 10.30am to learn about health-care environments and medical treatments.

Students from Charles Sturt University School of Medicine will also aim to familiarise children with healthy lifestyle behaviours such as exercise, healthy eating habits, and sleep.

Children can also play and create with Lego and Loom Bands at the library on Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm.

Whether or not they are a Lego enthusiast, or a loom bands expert, the library welcomes anyone to come and use the Lego and Loom Band kits to learn, create and take on challenges.

Children can also make their own unique pen holder on Thursday. Bella from Bunnings Swan Hill will be at the library from 2pm to 3pm to facilitate the activity and guide the children in creating their pen holder.

Holiday activities at the library will finish off with a Sand Art workshop.

Bella from Bunnings will return on Friday, from 2pm to 3pm to help students create a picture using coloured sand and sticky paper.

Like all school-holiday events and activities in the library, this activity is free.

However, bookings are essential and can be made by calling the library on 5036 2480.
