Dinomaniacs guarantee ‘roarsome’ time

CHILDREN will have a “roarsome” time at Tooleybuc Sporting Club when The Dinomaniacs arrive on Tuesday, October 1.

Performers and puppeteers from Melbourne-based dinosaur company Real Dinosaurs will be bringing their elaborate animatronic dinosaur models to life for Dinomaniacs: Let’s Time Travel.

Starting from 11am and finishing at 12.30pm, children will be travelling back in time to prehistoric eras and immersing themselves in an interactive dinosaur adventure.

Director of Dinomaniacs and owner of Real Dinosaurs Lisa Forde said The Dinomaniacs have toured all over the country in the last few years.

“It’s also our third time coming to Tooleybuc,” she said.

“We love touring and we really love to concentrate on those regional towns that don’t always get the opportunity to see shows like this.”

Ms Ford said the show’s interactive nature has been a hit with children.

“They feel like they’re really involved with the show itself,” she said

“We give them the power to interact with and control the dinosaurs.”

“It’s a really empowering experience for them.”

Ms Forde said the audience would be expected to “rock and roar” with the performers, as the show would feature original songs co-written by the performers with Dave Leslie, lead guitarist of the Baby Animals.

After years of work to see her vision for dinosaur shows come to light, Ms Forde and the Dinomaniacs started touring in 2019, but soon had to stop the tour in 2020 and reschedule their shows after COVID-19 restrictions were put in place.

The Dinomaniacs finally got their flowers this year when winning the What’s on 4 Kids award for ‘best kids live show’ in Australia.

“We worked very hard especially to keep it all going after lockdowns, so it was great to see that all of our hard work and talent was being recognised,” Ms Forde said.

“I think the secret to our success is that we’re real people, and we have real fun.”

“Majority of the time we go off script because we’re entertainers.”

“We go in there to entertain the audience and not just follow the script, do the job and leave. We really like to connect with the audience whether they are young or old.”

Bookings are essential to see Dinomaniacs.

Tickets for children and adults cost $20 each and can be purchased online at: www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1270434
