Indie band’s strong link to town

AMONG The Restless (ATR) have been a rising band to look out for in the Melbourne indie music scene.

The band has a local link – guitarist Lachie Dunn – who is excited to bring the band back to the town he grew up in again.

Comprised of lead vocalist Rhett James, guitarist Seamus Glenn and Mr Dunn on guitar and vocals, ATR will be kicking off their “Aussie East Coast Run” tour in February, playing in Swan Hill Club on March 29.

Mr Dunn said he was excited to be playing alongside other Swan Hill artists Ivy Black and Sophie Kelly.

“I played in a band with Shan and Cal from Ivy Black,” he said.

“They were in the band that I was in when I was growing up in Swan Hill and also, I went to school with Sophie Kelly.”

The band describes their sound as a “wall of sound, pushing passion into a soundscape of alternative rock fused with a pop element” and radio broadcaster Triple J has likened their music to UK alternative rock band, Nothing But Thieves.

In 2022, ATR played at Good Things Festival in Melbourne, supporting artists like Bring Me The Horizon and Deftones.

With the release of two new singles Running Away and Cutting Corners, Mr Dunn said ATR will be playing new songs to the crowd in Swan Hill which will be featured in an upcoming album currently in the works.

The band has also recruited new members to play bass, keyboard, and drums on tour.

Mr Dunn said the rest of the band were excited to come back to Swan Hill after first playing in town for Brew and Chew Festival in 2022.

“They all love the people and the vibe of the town and we’re all really stoked to go on our first headlining tour,” he said.

Gigging around town since he was 11 years old, Mr Dunn said Swan Hill had a good music scene for a small town.

“I played in another band here and we played almost every weekend around town’s pub circuit for several years up until I left,” he said.

“I’m really looking forward to coming back and playing with my mates again and am excited to see people I know in the audience.”

ATR will be playing at Swan Hill Club on Saturday, March 29 from 7pm.
