Comedians roll in for one-night show

UP-and-coming comedians will be gracing One28 Doors this Friday night, with the Swan Hill venue hosting a stacked line-up of comedians from Bendigo and Melbourne.

Bendigo based comedians Ash Greblo and Shaun Rosaia as well as Mort Loam, Elijah Dries and winner of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s 2019 Class Clowns Patti Fawcett will each perform a set from 8pm.

With the line-up consisting of rising stars Mr Rosaia told The Guardian the audience will get to appreciate a wide variety of comedic styles.

“Some of us are more silly while others are dry and dead-pan,” he said.

“That’s what’s so great about having five comedians – there’s something for everyone.”

Mr Rosaia said he is excited to be back in Swan Hill where his family owned a farm for generations.

“My relatives bought a farm here almost a hundred years ago,” he said.

“While I still come back to Swan Hill to see my family, I’m really excited to perform at a regional town again because I think country audiences are laid-back and don’t take themselves too seriously.”

Mr Rosaia said he is also eager to perform at One28 Doors due to the unique venue setting that provides for more audience interactions.

“There’s no stage so there are less barriers between us and the audience and that can make a show more intimate,” he said.

“Audience interactions are what makes stand-up comedy so much fun and we should have more chances to have interaction with the audience in this venue than at a comedy club.”

Manager of One28 Doors Danielle Delmenico said she was glad to have another event where comedians are performing.

“It’s great that they want to use this venue,” she said.

“We also have to help artists and performers grow as well as increase events in many different places in Swan Hill.”

“Swan Hill needs to get behind these events and support them.”
