Holiday fun at library

CHILDREN can continue to enjoy a schedule of fun and engaging activities before term one begins thanks to Swan Hill Regional Library and Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery

From arts and crafts to gaming and virtual reality, there will be something happening in the library for everyone.

Children can exercise their creativity any day of the school holidays at the Creation Station which is available everyday from 10am to 5.30pm.

Whether it be cutting, pasting, colouring and much more, The Creation Station will have the materials for whatever each child wishes to create on the day.

While at the library, children can search and find all of the Aussie animal posters in the library to go into the draw for a $50 Swan Hill Gift Card. The winner will drawn on Monday, February 3.

Children can get creative, explore, or test their survival skills in the world of Minecraft on Minecraft Mondays from 1pm to 4pm until Monday, January 20.

Every Wednesday, January to 22, they can also create and play with Lego blocks and complete challenges. Children also have the option to play with loom bands with hooks and boards available to make jewellery.

Staff from Bunnings, Swan Hill, will be facilitating a workshop to make your very own pet rock on Friday, January 10. A range of supplies including paint, markers and other materials will be available to use.

Bunnings staff will also be back on Friday, January 17, for 3D blocking fun from 2pm to 3pm.

For children who are eight years old and older, the STEM engineering workshop can be a great way to build and explore concepts of construction and pneumatics. Children can work in groups or alone to build rollercoasters, a cardboard Mars hub, or complete a pneumatics challenge based on the story We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.

On Friday, January 24, children can join a sand art workshop from 2pm to 3pm where they can create a picture using coloured sand.

Throughout the Summer, children are free to join the BIG Summer Read where they can go into the draw for a chance to win a prize.

To book holiday activities call the library on 5036 2480.

More information is available on the library’s Facebook page and newsletter at library.swanhill.vic.gov.au.
