Hot Pink! tribute act to perform at town hall

NEXT Friday Anthea Taylor, billed as one of the best female vocalists in the country, will hit the stage at Swan Hill Town Hall for a raucous, super-charged tribute to world pop-rock icon Pink.

Hot Pink! is heralded as one of Australia’s best Pink tribute acts and regularly draws packed-out crowds around the country.

Pink is known for her extravagant, high-energy performances and Ms Taylor said that is exactly what Swan Hill fans should expect.

“We try to capture the immense fun, the all-in party atmosphere,” the singer said.

“Unfortunately, we can’t do all the flips and acrobatics because we don’t have the infrastructure but it is a very high-energy affair.

“We get big Pink fans coming along and they really get into it, they know all the words and they come in Pink gear.

“Just seeing people have such a good time is what it’s all about really.”

Ms Taylor began touring Australia with Hot Pink! in 2010 and said it has given her a new understanding of the pop-rockstar.

“As I got into the Pink tribute act, I actually began to have a whole lot more respect for Pink as a songwriter but also as a performer.

“Of what she actually does up on stage; how hard she works.

“We are one the only tribute show that play all of her major songs, we’ve just got hit after hit for two and a quarter hours.

“We’ve been to Swan Hill quite a few times, and we’ve always had a great turnout.

“We haven’t been back for a while now though so we’re really looking forward to next Friday.”

Guitarist Jeff Ferdinands said he had done his research on Pink tribute bands, and Anthea Taylor was the best Pink singer in the country.

“She’s got an absolutely awesome voice, her pitch and her energy is just unrivalled in the cover scene,” Mr Ferdinands said.

“The whole show is incredible, but we’ve put a lot of effort into the sound.

“We model our show predominantly on the Wembley shows that Pink put on a few years ago.”

Mr Ferdinands said the resplendent lightshow is something to behold, and that town hall showgoers should not expect a sit-down affair.

“We hardly do any slow songs, but there is a very special acoustic rendition of Dear Mr President,” Mr Ferdinands said.

“The crowds get pretty up and about and crazy, at the seated venues we play at there’s hardly anyone who sits down.

“Everyone is getting up and dancing.

“We play all of the big hits and then we also play a fair few songs from her latest album, fans should expect to hear all their favourites.”

Hot Pink! will play at the Swan Hill Town Hall on Friday, May 23, from 7pm to 9.30pm with a 20 minute interval.

Tickets range between $52 to $62 each, and can be found at: swanhilltownhall.com/events/hot-pink/
