MEMBERS of the northwest Victorian and southwest NSW almond industry have arrived in Adelaide en masse this week for the 2024 Australian Almond Conference.
Haifa Group chief executive Motti Levin opened the conference with a well-researched and eye-opening assessment of the incredible changes through which agriculture is about to go.
This includes dealing with a global population of eight billion which is predicted to reach 11 billion in the next 25 years.
At the same time Mr Motti said the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation is predicting food consumption will soar 70 per cent while arable land available will fall 13 per cent – and irrigation will need to jump 50 per cent to even try and keep pace.
It was a presentation which got a lot of people talking and North West Farmer was there.
Check out this month’s edition for a full report of the event and our special interviews with some of the industry’s key players.
