MURRAY DOWNS LADIES

PLUS two was a winning score at Murray Downs Golf & Country Club on Wednesday. In A grade, Val Hedwards (17) survived a count back and won the voucher for the best score of the day, while Carol Wiseman (22) was the recipient of the runner-up voucher.

Barb Clark (27) also scored two-up to win in B grade from Claris Bourne (26) at two-down – while Jo Williams (43) at one-up and Laurel Dewhurst (35) square were successful in C grade.

Shelley Wilkins, who scored one-up and Mag Kiley, Maryann Mathiske, Sue Davis and Melita Sartori were all square and led the ball pool. Lisa Brady, Mary-Anne Davis, Colleen Roberts and Judi Lonergan hit the most accurate shots to the par 3s.

Forty-two ladies competed on Saturday, with Sheila Beard (25) on 39 points being the star of the day, winning Division 2 from Joan Foster (33) on 35 points. The best scores in Division 1 came from Judi Benbow (22) with 36 points and Paula Pickert (17) on 35 points. Marg Moore, Kerry Bond, Kerry Gammon and Paula Pickert won the nearest the pin prizes.

Twelve-year-old Olive Spitty continues to feature in the results and together with Kerry Bond and Kerry Gammon, collected a ball after scoring 35 points. Olive, whose Golf Australia handicap is 1, is now the lowest marker among the ladies at the club, with her playing handicap currently at four.

LAST Sunday saw the completion of the 2021 Men’s Championship, which had been postponed due to COVID.

The Club Champion for 2021 is Ian Dodd, who also collected the Brian Connick Shield for the best net score over the championship, while the A grade handicap winner was Scott Munro.

In B grade, the winner was Bo Forster, with the Handicap Trophy going the way of Hank Van Der Veen. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all who came along to play.

The course is in great condition and is a credit to ‘Harv’ – so why not come along and try your luck at Tooleybuc!
