MURRAY DOWNS MEN

ON Thursday, March 31, we held a par event for the men, Chris Merritt (11) on a score of -1 won A grade, while Steven Kerr (18) won B grade also scoring -1.

Top score of the day was +2 by C grade winner Darryl Roberts (35), Darryl also scored a nearest the pin prize on the 11th hole.

Friday was another successful 9 hole Stableford Competition, Steven Bulmer (14) on a neat 18 points took first place.

Saturday being the first Saturday of the month was our mens Monthly Medal Competition, this meant a challenging day of stroke from the Black tees.

James Beard (24) beat Ross Kenyon (11) in a count back for the Medal leaving Ross to win A Grade.

Allen Woolstencroft (18) also played well on a score of 72 to end up top of B Grade, while Ashley Edwards (25) had a score of 74 to finish on top of C Grade.

Luke Merrit however cleaned up the jackpot on the 11th hole knocking it to only 60cm from the hole.

Sunday’s Stableford competition was lead by Johnathan Hirst (8) from A grade and Joel Travaglia (29) from B grade both having 39 points, Steven Bulmer (13) had a good day, runner up in A grade on 37 points and two nearest the pins.

To finish off the week on Tuesday the men had a Stableford Competition dominated by Caleb Beggs (21) on a score of 38 and a nearest the pin on the 11th hole.

MURRAY DOWNS LADIES

Janette Tucker is the April monthly medallist at Murray Downs.

Janette usually reserves her best rounds of golf for Saturdays but on this occasion was able to put together a score of 71 nett from her 21 handicap to win by one shot from fellow 21 handicapper, Sue Davis.

This was Janette’s first medal at Murray Downs.

Elaine Barrett hails from Prospect Vale Golf Club and is a frequent visitor to Murray Downs, on this occasion her score of 75 nett from her 30 handicap won her the Division 2 voucher on a count back from Deb Kelly (43).

Bev Kelly is enjoying her golf and it was made extra special when her tee shot on the par 3 11th hole landed 123 cm from the flagstick to claim the $250 jackpot.

Other NTP winners were Mary-Anne Davis, Janette Tucker and Jude Simmonds, Ruth McAlister’s putter worked well to win the putting comp on 30 putts.

Marg Moore and Jude Simmonds lead the ball pool on 73 nett respectively, Rhonda Caccianiga was also the recipient of a golf ball in the rundown and has now reduced her 45 handicap by 1 over the last few weeks.

Carol Wiseman (21) collated 38 points was the Division 1 winner on Saturday, Phasinee Chaiyasit (22) was next best on 37 points.

In Division 2, Belinda Gardner (30) 36 points and Ruth McAlister (29) 35 points were the winners.

Bev Kelly and Mag Kiley were the ball pool leaders on 35 points.

Claris Bourne, Mag Kiley, Carol Wiseman and Kate Lochery were the NTP winners.

LAKESIDE GOLF CLUB LADIES

A dry course greeted a small group of keen golfers to start the 2022 season, stroke was the game of the day and Mandy Ackland had the best score to take home the towel on a score of 99-23-76.

Deanne Free finished second on a countback of 109-32-77 from Jean Youl who took home the ball comp, nearest the pins on the 3rd went to Deanne for the Lake Boga Cafe voucher and Mandy on the 7th for the Shaw Auto Electrical stubby holder.

Jean managed a birdie on the 8th and Laurel a gobbler on the 9th from under the tree.
