With a near capacity field of 124 players taking part in the four-person Ambrose, shotgun start event, it was the combination of Joel Travaglia (26), Malcolm Deveraux (36), Gary Blencowe (11) and Rick Pickering (18), playing from their adjusted daily handicap of 11.38, who took out the day.

Their net total score of 54.62 was ahead of the team of Luke Merritt, Greg Walker, Ryan Merritt and Murray Conn (10.63), who finished with 55.37.

They were closely followed in third position, with a score of 55.5, by Craig Fletcher, Dave Hogan, Dale Jager and Brad Kelly.

Scores of 57.37 and less were required to eligible in the ball rundown.

Saturday’s competition was a Stableford event that was played in three divisions.

The best score of the day came out of Division 3, where Glenn Wilkes had a great day out by scoring 42 points from his 21 handicap. Runner-up in this division was Paul Sparks (23) with 38 points.

On Thursday last week, the daily competition was against par, with the countback system getting a workover to separate the top two in each division.

Division 1 went to Craig Fletcher (13) with 2 up, ahead of Brent Daniels (13), while in Division 2, it was Joe Morrison (23) who come out on top with 1 down, ahead of David McFarland (22). 2 down was the score required to be the ball run-down, while with the nearest the pins went to Graham McLelland on the second, Dale Rogers claimed both the fifth and the 11th, which also included the jackpot, hitting to 64cm and Darryl Domaille was closest on the 15th.
