MURRAY Downs women’s golf hosted the 29th Women’s Annual Golf Classic Tournament on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday last week.

Visitors hailed from many parts of Victoria – including Rosanna, Riverside Mildura, Gisborne, Ranfurlie, Corowa, Rich River, Settlers Run, Nhill, Thurgoona, Victor Harbour, Toolondo, Port Fairy, The Sands, Midlands, Rainbow, Kerang, Neangor Park, Garfield, Horsham and Barham.

A Stableford event kicked off the tournament on Wednesday with 114 players.

Thursday was a stroke event incorporating the Murray Downs Classic Amateur Champion, which featured 81 players, and Friday closed the successful three days with a 4BBB Stableford event featuring 102 players.

The Murray Downs Classic Amateur Champion competition was a very close result as local Jo Watts won with a scratch score of 82, and Lynnette Rose from Rosanna Golf Club was runner-up with the score of 85.

The prestigious Murray Downs Bowl competition is also held on this day – a team from Rosanna were very excited to win this trophy.

The Classic this year was sponsored by Swan Hill Disposals & Outdoor Store, Jane Eliza Motel and Murray Downs Resort in conjunction with Murray Downs Golf & Country Club and local lingerie shop My 2 Girls.

A hole-in-one on the 11th hole was scored by Virginia Dalton from Thurgoona Golf Club.

A most successful tournament – with great accolades from the visitors regarding the condition of the Murray Downs course and hospitality.
