Bidgee Haven aged care receives millions

BALRANALD Shire has received over $1.38m to invest in Bidgee Haven Aged Care Hostel, the announcement made by Farrer MP Sussan Ley as part of the Aged Care Approval Rounds (ACAR).

Ms Ley said the funding will be used to improve on the plans for a 15 bed high-dependency extension wing at the hostel, and will include an upgrade to its fire services and power supply to meet increased capacity.

“There is also extra money for new furniture, furnishings and fittings, as well as communications technology and further ancillary costs associated with the project,” Ms Ley said.

“This is a really important extension to Bidgee Haven, and I am really pleased the government can assist in getting this across the line for the Balranald community.”

Minister for Senior Australians and Aged Care Services Richard Colbeck said investing in aged care infrastructure improved the quality and safety of residential aged care from the ground up.

“Safe, secure and comfortable residential care homes, designed around the needs of residents, provide the foundation for our five-pillar, five-year aged care reform plan,” Minister Colbeck said.

The latest Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR) for the Bidgee Haven Aged Care Hostel is one of five capital grants in Farrer, and among 72 infrastructure projects totalling $150 million across the nation, as part of the single largest investment in residential aged care infrastructure in Australia’s history.
