A NUMBER of positive COVID patients are being monitored by Swan Hill District Health’s (SHDH) care at home program.
SHDH acting chief executive officer Kim Bennetts said were no no positive patients in a hospital setting at Swan Hill.
“We continue to encourage our local community to maintain COVID-safe measures whilst out and about, seek booster vaccines once it has been four months since their second dose and isolate if awaiting test results or if they are unwell,” she said.
“Now that the GP clinics are open and available, we ask that anyone with mild COVID symptoms, such as a runny nose, sore throat or fevers, call their GP for a telehealth appointment and/or isolate at home until they can attend our drive-through clinic for testing.
“If you do have to attend our emergency department, then please be prepared for delays due to the increase in patient numbers and limited space.”
Ms Bennetts also addressed concerns in difficulties of accessing testing.
“If you cannot access a PCR or RAT and are a household contact, household-like contact or have symptoms, the most important thing you can do is to stay home and isolate,” she said.
“Most people who contract COVID will experience mild to moderate symptoms and will be able to manage at home.
“It is important to monitor symptoms when you or someone you care for gets COVID, there are lots of great resources for information and advice about managing symptoms and isolation.
“If you are attending our drive-through clinic located at the Swan Hill showgrounds for a PCR test then our advice to you is to ensure you have water with you, especially during these warmer months.”
