Bookings now open for children vaccines

CHILDREN aged under 12 will start rolling up their sleeves to be vaccinated from this week.

Swan Hill District Health’s vaccination clinic, located at Tristar Medical Centre, 152 Campbell Street, Swan Hill, will start vacciantions for children aged five to 11 every Thursday from January 13.

Bookings are required on 5033 9960 or 0429 121 126.

The paediatric Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine reduces COVID-19 risks for children and has the additional benefit of reducing risks of transmission to older contacts.

“By getting your child vaccinated, you are providing them with direct protection against COVID-19 and reducing the risk of transmission to loved ones and in schools,” Acting Premier Jacinta Allan said.

“We want to create a vaccination experience that is positive for the whole family – the forest themed hubs have been designed to provide a welcoming and accessible experience for children of all backgrounds and abilities.”

Meanwhile, SHDH acting chief executive officer Kim Bennetts said the vaccination clinic experienced its biggest day to date this week, as people booked in their booster vaccine.

“There are very limited walk-in opportunities available now and bookings are required to be made over the phone,,” she said.

The clinic is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday each week.
