Swan Hill gets a visit from blood donor van

THE Mobile Blood Donor Van is currently in Swan Hill.

Stephanie Reynolds from Australian Red Cross Lifeblood says the van has received “great support that we really appreciate”, with around 200 Swan Hill residents rolling up their sleeves to donate.

Swan Hill local Melissa Devereux is a regular blood giver, but felt it was important this year especially because of the national blood shortage thanks to COVID.

Ms Devereux says she also donates because of her rare, O negative blood type.

Also donating was 21-year-old dentistry student, Daniel Hughes.

“As part of the dental society at La Trobe last year I did it for the first time to help out down there, and I just thought I would do it again while I’m back on break,” Mr Hughes said.

“I’d like to make this a regular thing.”

The van will be in Swan Hill at the Big Murray Cod until February 11, and will be back again from June 27 to July 8. If you are interested in donating, visit the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood website or call 13 14 95.
