Orthodontics that will have you grinning from ear to ear

IS your smile getting you down? Swan Hill Smiles offers two types of orthodontics that will have you grinning from ear to ear.

The first type of orthodontic is what Swan Hill Smiles practice manger Nadia King describes as self-aligning braces.

“It’s newer technology than what they used to use when we were kids, like you would slap on some brackets and you were stuck with that for months before you went back to the dentist,” Ms King said.

“So it’s a bit different. It’s very effective, and it is often faster to get the result that you need.”

Unlike traditional braces, these require a series of appointment to change the very malleable wire to help move your teeth. But while these modern braces are a step in the right direction when it comes to orthodontics, they are not necessarily pain free.

“You don’t have as much pain, but … every time you get a wire put in its going to be a little bit tighter,” Ms King said.

“But I would say generally it is a fair bit less than what you used to have to do because you are changing it more often and you are getting a better result.”

The other type of orthodontics used at Swan Hill Smiles is the increasingly popular Invisalign, which is a series of clear retainers that a client uses to re-align their teeth without the need for any brackets.

Weather it is for aesthetics, jaw problems or bite issues, Ms King believes that orthodontics can help many people to regain their confidence at any age.

“One of the things that is universally known for being beautiful is having a symmetrical face, and that’s what orthodontics is able to give people, that symmetry,” she said.

If orthodontics are something you are interested in learning more about, you can call the Swan Hill Smiles clinic or visit their website.

“We can arrange a consultation, and basically the dentist would just assess them and say, ‘yes you are a good candidate’ or ‘actually you don’t need much, why don’t we do Invisalign?’” Ms King said.

“They can let people know what the best option for their treatment is and go from there.”
