SINCE opening her pilates studio in Swan Hill six years ago, Sha’is King has inspired and encouraged women of all ages, shapes and sizes.
However, the 35-year-old wasn’t always destined for a career in the fitness industry.
“I hated exercise and used to live a very unhealthy lifestyle,” she said.
“It wasn’t until I started my family at 23 that I started exploring exercise and just how great it made me feel.
“Being a new mum is so tough and it allowed me time and space to reboot and recharge on my own.”
With a desire to start her own business, Ms King began to research pilates.
“I never knew what I wanted to do or why, but I had this huge belief that I would someday own my own business,” she said.
Starting with a single reformer machine from the comfort of her home, within months Ms King had established The Vive Studio Pilates in Swan Hill.
Since then she’s had thousands of women, from all walks of life, sign up for a class.
“We have got a phenomenal community of women,” Ms King said.
“Every woman regardless of age, shape and size deserves to feel like they belong.
“It’s so important that everyone who walks through our doors is seen, cared for and walks away feeling better than when they walked through the doors.”
Ms King said she was also grateful for the support of her all-female team.
“Each team member is a strong, independent woman who brings their own unique vibe to class,” she said.
Raising her three daughters, Ms King said it was important for them to have role models and influential women in their lives.
“I want my girls to have friends and role models that not only look out for them, but encourage them to believe in their own decisions and to trust their own inner knowing,” Ms King said.
While both juggling life as a mother and running a business can be challenging, Ms King wouldn’t have it any other way.
“I’m so passionate about helping women in health and wellbeing,” she said, noting women often had a tendency to put themselves last.
“I love that I get to see amazing women every day.
“We get to empower women to love themselves, to trust in themselves and to listen to their bodies and move in a way that feels good.”
