Providing tailored treatment

WITH clinics in both Swan Hill and Kerang, Mallee Physio and Hydrotherapy aims to help their clients improve and maintain their health and wellbeing.

Mallee Physio practice manger Mitch Seton-Stewart says their team of dedicated specialists can provide tailored treatments to help with issues ranging from sports injuries and surgery recovery to chronic conditions such as arthritis.

“One of the things people ask is can we treat this and can we treat that, and most of the time the answer is yes,” Mr Seton-Stewart said.

“Basically any sort of injury or chronic condition or anything post-surgical we can do here – there is really no limit to what we can and can’t do.”

While physiotherapy is their main scope of practice, Mallee Physio also offer myotherapy, exercise physiology and remedial massage services, as well as hydrotherapy facility with a pool, heated spa, cold pool, gym and sauna used for recovery and contrast therapy as well as relaxation.

Mallee Physio’s hydrotherapy pool provides an ideal environment to perform graded and tailored exercise programs. Maintained at 34 degrees, there are a number of therapeutic benefits the hydrotherapy pool offers to a range of conditions.

Mr Seton-Stewart also said the pool offers an alternative to more hands-on treatments that don’t suit everyone.

“We have got both options there [hands-on and hydrotherapy] which is really good for not just Swan Hill but for regional Victoria,” he said.

The pool is also used for swimming lessons, with Mallee Physio specialising in infants as young as four months old all the way up to nine-years old.

Mr Seton-Stewart, who joined the Mallee Physio team in 2016 after completing his degree in exercise and sports science, said the best part of his job is seeing people get back their physical health after an injury or surgery.

“A lot of people come in here and they think I’ve had this injury or this surgery and I’m not going to get back to where I was before,” Mr Seton-Stewart said.

“But working with them through their programs and with the physios and with the hydro stuff to get them back to where they were, it’s really rewarding to see them get back to where they were and back to living a normal life.”
