Vaccination clinic in Balranald

A COVID and flu vaccination clinic will be held in Balranald this month.

Supported by Western NSW Primary Health Network (WNSW PHN) a nurse immuniser will be administering COVID and influenza vaccinations at the Balranald Pharmacy on October 11, 12, 18 and 19.

WNSW PHN boss Andrew Coe said the clinics make it convenient for Balranald residents to maintain their protection against the effects of COVID.

“The response by the people of Balranald to the pandemic’s initial threat was exceptional, with more than 95 percent of people aged 16 and over receiving their first vaccination dose, and more than 90 percent receiving two doses,” Mr Coe said.

“Unfortunately, to the end of September this year, less than 65 percent of Balranald residents have had their third dose, which does leave the community susceptible in the instance of a local outbreak.”

Mr Coe warned that despite it now being somewhat off the radar: “COVID is not a thing of the past”.

“We are still responding to the pandemic, and I urge everyone who is yet to be up to date with their COVID vaccinations in Balranald, be that doses two, three or four, to take advantage of these convenient opportunities to increase their protection against the disease,” he said.

Influenza vaccinations will also be available at the clinics.

“This provides peace of mind for those who wish to ensure their protection against the flu as we experience a wetter and cooler start to spring than usual,” Mr Coe said.

The COVID and influenza vaccination clinics will be held at Balranald Pharmacy, 107 Market Street, between 9am and 5pm on October 11, 12, 18 and 19. Bookings can be made by phoning the Balranald Pharmacy on 035020 1618.
