Hear from Parkinson’s experts in Swan Hill

SUPPORT organisation Fight Parkinson’s will host a free community seminar in Swan Hill later this month, discussing the latest research on the disease.

Florey Institute head of Parkinson’s research David Finkelstein will be joined by University of Melbourne professor of physiotherapy Jenny McGinley and Victor McConey of Fight Parkinson’s.

The latest advances in treating and caring for those with Parkinson’s disease will be spoken about.Members of the allied health team from Swan Hill District Health Services and Swan Hill Parkinson’s Peer Support Group will also attend.

Fight Parkinson’s content and communication specialist Amanda Bolch said the seminars aimed to show communities what support was available.

“It’s really about bringing together anybody that is touched by Parkinson’s within the local community,” she said.

“The idea is that it’s a face-to-face opportunity to bring everyone together and let them know of the latest information about treating and researching Parkinson’s.”

Fight Parkinson’s, formerly Parkinson’s Victoria, will follow the seminar by holding their 2023 Research Symposium in Parkville on May 26, which will also be livestreamed.

Registration for both of these events can be completed on the Fight Parkinson’s website.

The seminar will be held at the Swan Hill Club on Monday, May 22 from 10.45am to 12.15pm.

Those wishing to attend can also register on the morning from 10.30am.
