COVID cases falling

THE number of patients with COVID in Victorian hospitals dropped last week, while cases reported also decreased by 28 per cent from the previous week.

There were 6135 COVID cases reported in Victoria last week, a decrease of 28 per cent from the previous week.

The average daily number of new cases last week was 876, down from 1238 the week before.

The seven-day rolling average of patients with COVID in hospitals was 429, a decrease of 9 per cent from the previous week.

There were 356 COVID patients in Victorian hospitals, 17 of which were in intensive care and five on a ventilator.

A total of 64 COVID-related deaths were reported to the Health Department in the past week.

Almost 19 per cent of Victorians aged 18 and over have recorded a vaccination or COVID diagnosis in the past six months.

This meant 4.2 million Victorians were eligible for a 2023 booster dose.

Of Victorians aged 65 and over, 46 per cent have recorded a vaccination or COVID diagnosis in the past six months.

Of Victorians aged 50 to 64, 20 per cent have recorded a vaccination or COVID diagnosis in the past six months.
